Tech: Facebook Unveils New “Groups” Feature
At a live press conference held at its headquarters in Palo Alto Thursday, Facebook executives unveiled the newest addition to the service: a new Groups feature that allows users to create public and private groups to participate in communal activities, such as group chat, e-mail and photo-tagging, as well as document sharing and collaborative editing.
The startup rolled out two additional features as well: the ability to download all of the data users have uploaded to Facebook, as well as a new applications dashboard to help users keep track of what kinds of information applications are collecting.
